ASA 101 Beginning Keelboat Sailing
 
Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.

 Its a 12 hour course that will teach you all the fundamentals of sailing. It has classroom and on the water components. The end result is that you should be able to competently sail a 20 to 30  ft boat single handed in light to moderate weather. Included is an ASA textbook, and logbook.

   Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 25 to 35 feet in length by day and night in moderate to heavy  winds (up to 25 knots) and sea conditions. We will build on the knowledge from the 101 class.  

  You will learn :

advanced sail trim

handling emergencies,

anchoring  under power and sail

basic navigation

and more!

  Its a 12hour course in four sessions. It has classroom and on the water components. includes an ASA textbook.

   Learn advanced navigation techniques. Learn the fundamentals of dead reckoning and piloting. We will learn how to navigate without the benefit of GPS.  There is a classroom  component where we will practice navigation problems on practice charts. After that, we can get out on the water and practice some of the  techniques that we learned.
